After I read it, I bought seven copies and gave them as gifts.Meeker does not sully himself or Newhouse with scandal. Rather, he shows step-by-step the genius behind growing a local news organization. One wonderful point about Newhouse: Newhouse trusted his employees. His nephew, Dick Diamond, was just as great with trust. Give the employees the freedom to do their jobs. Watch the profits grow. In all my years as Newsroom Art Director, I never had a budget.
Pertinent today with ideas that can work in any media or any place. Websites can benefit from his marketing skills, too. If you are not making a profit, you're not a good businessman. Period.
