Rendition Supposing Books The Secrets of Happiness
The Secrets of Happiness is an extraordinary tale of sisterhood, from Lucy Diamond author of The Beach Cafe.
The best things in life . . . can be just around the corner
Rachel and Becca aren't real sisters, or so they say. They are stepsisters, living far apart, with little in common. Rachel is the successful one: happily married with three children and a big house, plus an impressive career. Artistic Becca, meanwhile, lurches from one dead-end job to another, shares a titchy flat, and has given up on love.
The two of them have lost touch, but when Rachel doesn't come home one night, Becca is called in to help.
Once there, she quickly realizes that her stepsister's life is not so perfect after all: Rachel's handsome husband
has moved out, her children are rebelling, and her glamorous career has taken a nosedive. Worst of all,
nobody seems to have a clue where she might be.
As Becca begins to untangle Rachel's secrets, she is forced to confront some uncomfortable truths about
her own life, and the future seems uncertain.
But sometimes happiness can be found in the most unexpected places . . .

Obviously this kind of book isn't an intellectually challenging type of story, but it was nice and well-written and I loved all the little misunderstandings that created all these tensions between Rachel and Becca and Rachel and Wendy. I loved seeing all of those little things being uncovered during the course of the book and uniting those two step-sisters. I enjoyed the beginning where Becca was desperately trying to find her step-sister, while dealing with her kids (whom she hadn't seen inThis book was a heartfelt and engaging read. I thought the first half was great and it was quite scary what happened to Rachel; being injured in hospital miles away from home and having no idea who is looking after your kids. When my kids were younger this was one of those nightmare situations I dreaded. Becca is a great character and I warmed to her more than troubled Rachel. She deserves a book of her own. I liked how she got to know Rachels children properly and not as she said, through
I enjoyed this book it was heart warming story of two sisters who lived two very different lives but are thrown together. It was laugh out loud in parts, emotional and had likeable characters.

Rachel and Becca are step-sisters. As a pair they are polar opposites, with Rachel having seemingly made a success of her life as mum and with her career. Becca on the on the other hand has struggled for any such results with failed job ventures and relationships a-plenty. Little do they both know that a near tragic event will bring the two together and force them both to take stock of their lives. When Rachel goes missing it is up to Becca to take the responsibilty to look after the children
Unfortunately I found this a bit boring, definitely not as good as the other books I've read/listened to by this author.
Enjoyable read with an intriguing start that unfolds to tell the story of two very different (half) sisters and how their individual difficulties shape their lives as they are thrust together through circumstance.
Was this book predictable and slightly formulaic? Yes, sure... Did I love it anyway? Absolutely! I can't say exactly what it was, but I couldn't put this book down. This is some perfect light reading for me-time :)
