Evil Angels is a 1981 novel by the French writer Pascal Bruckner. The French title is Lunes de fiel, which literally means "moons of bile", a pun on "lune de miel", "honeymoon". The story takes place on a passenger ship heading from Marseille to Istanbul, and focuses on a couple who meet a man determined to break them apart. The book was published by Éditions du Seuil. It was published in English in 1987, translated by William R. Beer.
Bitter Moon is a 1992 Franco-British-American romantic thriller film directed by Roman Polanski and starring Hugh Grant, Kristin Scott Thomas, Emmanuelle Seigner and Peter Coyote.

A very explicit and powerful book. Very realisticaly written with a unexpected end. Great book, kept me connected the whole time. Makes you thing of quite a few things...love, trust in people.

Power dynamics, pshychological games, helplesness, extasy, fragility. Brilliant incursion into life's unpredictability in an extreme positive and negative emotional spectrum.

Not my type of book - actually at one point I wanted to give up reading it. But I decided to continue because its subject is quite unusual. The ending was a bit surprising.

I have mixed feelings.On one side, the story is unique. On the other side, I hated the translation and this killed some of the pleasure of reading.And the story of the relationships developing between Franz, Didier, Beatrice and Rebecca is sooooooooooooo sick.Love, psychology, manipulation, (extreme) sex, destruction, revenge.I am still not sure if I liked it or not.

I have read and reread this book several times and will do so again!

Loved the writing, even resonated with some parts of it, but I gave it 4 stars because the finish felt a bit childish. I was expecting a more dramatic ending, but in the way that the characters would talk about their feeling and maybe heal, separate. But I think it had to be a prank until the end. It resembled Jeux Denfants, but a hard core version of it. I also want to watch Roman Polanskis adaptation of the novel.
