A distinctive young-adult coming-of-age debut novel about grief, loss and life choices set in a modern day troublesome neighbourhood.

After a devastating loss, sixteen-year-old Hayden Wilson finds herself stuck between a past she can’t let go of and a future that struggles to make sense. A series of events will force her on the run, wanted by the police, and Hayden will have to face the consequences of her mistakes. But will she get another chance?

From a talented new voice comes an intense gripping realistic novel that tackles the issues of teenage depression through a powerful narration which will take readers through an emotional journey about an adolescent’s transition into adulthood - blending visceral experiences with authentic and poignant diary entries.

Crit Based On Books Before Life Happened (Before #1)
I received a copy of this book as a winner of a giveaway promoted by the author on Goodreads.I have to say I did not expect much from this book. I'm not anymore a teenager, so technically speaking I'm not the ideal target. But, even if the language is clearly chosen to be near the slang of the youngest readers, I enjoyed this transformation story. The only thing I would criticize is that sometimes there were certain sentences that seemed like written from a general POV, while the rest of the

Before Life Happened is young adult novel which is a coming-of-age story at it's core. It's also a story about grief, and of how quickly things can spiral out of hand, among other things. I really enjoyed this book, it was a great debut novel and I'm highly interested in where the author will take this series. It was highly engaging and fast paced. I found myself really engrossed in the story. I couldn't put it down from beginning to end. It was sad at times, and at times very dramatic and

OMG I LOVED THIS BOOKKK! I.need.the.second.one.asap!

Does it get easier at least? No, it doesnt. You just get used to the grief. This was a YA contemporary story about a girl whose parents died in a car accident.Hayden was an okay character, and it was clear that she was depressed after her parents deaths, she was a little too whiney for me at points though. The storyline in this was abut Haydens life after her parents deaths, and all the problems she had to deal with. These werent just everyday problems though, with Hayden getting into real

Hayden and her brothers are left devastated by the sudden death of their parents. They are coping, of sorts, but Hayden is really struggling to accept what has happened. In this story we see things go from bad to really awful for Hayden. She had people looking out for her, but not in the way that meant they could make any difference.I was quite surprised at the rapidity with which Hayden gets into trouble but was pleased to see some of the major issues of the novel were resolved.

WOW. I was amazed at the depth of this story. I felt I was there with Hayden, having been there myself. So realistic.

A lot of f-bombs, but the story was interesting.
