Narration In Favor Of Books Bruidsvlucht

Een meeslepend verhaal, gebaseerd op historische werkelijkheid: in 1953 werd The Last Great Air Race London-Christchurch gehouden.

Column About Books Bruidsvlucht
Because of the title of the book, I thought the book would be not be good, wrong, it was very good. It is about 3 girls on a flight from Amsterdam to New Zealand to get married. And they were sitting with Frank, a handsome man who is going there to buy a farm. The 3 girls get together after years for Frank's funeral.

I watched this movie a while back and enjoyed it, so I wanted to read the book. I thought the book was a little bit richer than the movie, giving more backstory to the characters. And it made more sense how connected they really were. How Frank really changed each of their lives in such profound ways... which wasn't as apparent in the movie. Great read.

ROMANTIC. Loved the characters and story. It's the Dutch version of the NOTEBOOK.

I found the background story of a group of young Dutch girls emigrating to New Zealand as part of a transcontinental air race in the 1950s really fascinating. Unfortunately I did not find the story itself so much fascinating as depressing and the characters mostly unlikeable or irritating. Disappointing. Also, I found it difficult to overlook the fact that it contains not a single apostrophe (I kid you not!) and many of the sentences run into each other with missing punctuation, although this may

Schmutzy and sentimental but I enjoyed it

This book is by a Dutch author, written in Dutch and first published in 2007. The English translation seems quite serviceable. I first became aware of the story by seeing the motion picture adaptation, which was a Dutch film with the spoken dialogue in Dutch, so watching with subtitles was necessary. The story takes place in New Zealand, and the movie (which I highly recommend seeing) was filmed there --- a lot of the outdoor scenery in it is breathtakingly stunning. I was impressed with the
