Description Toward Books Before the Fall: Arrival (Embassy Row #0.5)
Inside every secret, there’s a world of trouble. Step into Grace’s world with this exclusive bonus scene from Embassy Row, New York Times bestselling author Ally Carter’s new series of global proportions. Embassy Row Book 1, All Fall Down, is available now!Grace Blakely is absolutely certain of three things:
1. She is not crazy.
2. Her mother was murdered.
3. Someday she is going to find the killer and make him pay.
As certain as Grace is about these facts, nobody else believes her -- so there's no one she can completely trust. Not her grandfather, a powerful ambassador. Not her new friends, who all live on Embassy Row. Not Alexei, the Russian boy next door, who is keeping his eye on Grace for reasons she neither likes nor understands.
Everybody wants Grace to put on a pretty dress and a pretty smile, blocking out all her unpretty thoughts. But they can't control Grace -- no more than Grace can control what she knows or what she needs to do. Her past has come back to hunt her . . . and if she doesn't stop it, Grace isn't the only one who will get hurt. Because on Embassy Row, the countries of the world stand like dominoes, and one wrong move can make them all fall down.
Don’t miss this never-before-read scene from New York Times bestselling author Ally Carter’s brand-new series, Embassy Row.

This is an interesting short story that happened before Grace Blakely returns to the embassy three years after her mothers death. Its not really something that adds to the novel, more like a preparation of sorts, on how Grace managed to regain her composure and present herself with dignity and grace. Because shes not what they expected her to be. Everyone from the Embassy thought she was crazy. Well, shes definitely going to prove them wrong when she arrives.amazingIt was amazing I just dunno how to explain how good it was. Most books I read I get bored but not this book.
This was yet another Ally Carter master piece. I understand that is was cut because it has to much detail and not enough of a hook for an opening chapter. It was still the wonderfully writing we have all come to know and love from Ally Carter. I've been a huge fan for almost 10 years now and I still love reading Ally's books! Thank you so much for making it free.

I actually can't figure out why this isn't at the beginning of Embassy Row. It would probably be a better start to the novel than the current opening scene. It gives a little hint to Grace's state of mind and the circumstances involved in her coming to Adria. It also sets up the whole (suckish) murder mystery plot line going on. Thank you, Ally Carter, for not making us pay for such a short scene. You're a kind woman!
Too short, but it makes me interested in reading the first book.
Not having read any of the Embassy Row books yet, this was a bit short to really get a feel for the world. But I'd like to read more in this setting / about Grace.
This is a short story that takes place just before All Fall Down, the first Embassy Row novel. It's short and sweet and does a great job setting the stage for the novel. It's not necessary to read this before you read the novel, but if you plan on reading both, I'd read it first as it just segues in perfectly. It could easily have been including in the book as a prologue.
