I'll start by saying I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It's full of adventure, magic, and the pacing is fast throughout. The world Alessandro Reale created is so much fun; full of storybook characters that are each given their own unique twist. It's quite complicated, but at the same time written in a way that's easy to follow. I also love the concept of "Literaries", which, to my knowledge, is quite original to this story. The story almost felt a bit like Alice in Wonderland, but the characters

Inspiring Just shows what you can do if you stand up for yourself. Youre braver than you think. I recommend this book to young adults and grown ups alike.

Dodgers Doorway, by Alessandro Reale, is a fantasy adventure story that explores retelling classic fairy tales and fables in unique and fun ways. The book follows main character Mark Dodger Bishop, a teenager from our world who is tired of his life. While struggling with divorcing parents, and school bullies, and getting through his senior year of high school, Dodger finds a doorway to another world. This world is inhabited by the fairytale characters of our childhoods. Dodger meets Humpty

Growing up, Alessandro Reale always had a passion for storytelling. When he was six years old, he wrote his first short story about the class teddy bear. At age eight, he penned a short detective story for the school newsletter. He then returned to tell another short story revolving around the teddy bear and his journey across the world. As the years flew by, Alessandro spent more and more time

Thank you to the author for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review. This is a YA novel which binds different fairytales together which is a paradise for a fantasy lover and someone who grew up with this fairytales. It was cool to see how the author put them together and what he made out of them. He really did a great job in recreating the tales for us.Mark Bishop or Dodger is bullied at school, his parents fight everyday and hes just looking forward to moving out once hes 18 to leave

This first novel by Alex Reale,a former student, is an exciting adventure into many fondly remembered childhood fairy tales. A teen, Mark Bishop, who calls himself, Dodger, is bullied unmercifully at school, his parents fight all the time and belittle him so much that Dodger is really looking forward to turning 18 and leaving behind his sorry excuse for a life. But a chance trip into his closet one night leads him into a fairytale kingdom complete with castles, Humpty Dumpty, Rumpelstiltskin,

Pros: very creative story and idea, clever reimagining of traditional storybook characters. Good for teenage reluctant readers who feel marginalized in their home/school life.Cons: poorly written, reads like a first draft of Mary Sue fanfiction where the author inserted himself into the main character to get back at all the bullies in his life. Shoddy proof-reading, lots of mis-used words that do not quite mean what the author thought they meant, and lots of mis-used homonyms.
