Description As Books The Safest Place

How cosy I made it sound. How easy. Sam and Ella both looked at me for a moment, their faces a mixture of apprehension and wistfulness. I smiled back at them indulgently, feeling so pleased with myself. Now, I look back and I want to grab my old self by the shoulders and shake, hard. I want to slap the smug smile off my face. I wasn’t just complacent; I was blind. Jane Berry has always dreamed of moving to the country. When she uproots her family and takes them to live in a rural paradise, at first it all seems perfect. She has the house and the space she always longed for and is determined to make a better life for herself and her children. But when her marriage comes under pressure the dream starts to fall apart. A seemingly promising new friendship shows its dark side and Jane finds her life spiralling out of control. Then one night a line is crossed that threatens to ruin her and break apart her family forever.

Crit Of Books The Safest Place
Fantastic book! I felt a little helpless as the chaos ensued and couldn't believe how much destruction one perfectly normal family could take! This started off seeming to be an innocent outlook on the issues moving house can bring to the table. I totally didn't expect the situation to get so utterly out of control. A real page turner, a little dark but definitely exciting!

Jane lives in a small, cramped London house with her husband, David, and their two children, Sam and Ella. When Janes son, Sam, starts secondary school and starts to withdraw she decides that she wants to move away from London and start a new, idyllic life in the country. At first, everything is perfect. They enjoy the space and fresh air their new home has to offer. However, things soon begin to go downhill.Jane wasnt a very likable character I found her very selfish, realistically she knew

There's something about watching a train wreck about to happen. As horrible as you know it's going to be you just can't look away. That was the demise of this family's story for me, the observer. I was fully immersed in the plot and although I could see where it was all headed, I couldn't look away. Very nicely written. I felt like I was a family friend cringing & uncomfortable as it all fell apart.

I had no sympathy for the protagonist of this story. I thought she was self-centred and selfish, so I wasn't entirely surprised that her life turned out badly. However, if you are going to write a book where (view spoiler)[the entire point of the story is for your main character to get raped (hide spoiler)], then perhaps you'd better reconsider writing the book. Because that's the main point of this story, and what it all leads up to. It doesn't deal with the aftermath, because the story ends

I have mixed feelings about this book. Suzanne Bugler is an excellent writer, drawing me in from the first page. I almost did not finish this book though. The main character, Jane, so annoyed me, frustrated me, that at times I found it hard to carry on reading.Sometimes I could sympathise with her. I could understand her, understand why her life became what it did. Other times I think if she had been standing in front of me I would have slapped her.The only people who I felt incredibly sorry

This book was recommended to me by my local library. I really enjoyed the authors style of writing and how believable the characters were. I really disliked the narrator of the book as she seemed to blame others throughout and I think I felt so strongly due to how she treated her children and how she forced them into situations they were uncomfortable with. My main concern with the end of the book is that I found it slightly rushed and there was no consequence for Max's actions which I found

Suzanne Bugler's books all concentrate on family relationships, her descriptions so good that each time I read one of her books it feels like I am peeking through the windows on someone else's life.In the safest Place starts with Jane persuading her husband to live their dream, this couple's dream is to live in the country. Once Jane decides that she wants to move and broaches the idea she quickly escalates to a full blown campaign to make the move happen. The couples two children, a quiet son
