Cool😇😇

Required reading from my 4th grade grand daughter. We've sort of formed our own reading group, which means that she wants me to read some of the books that she especially liked. Turns out this is a good thing, because afterwards, we talk about the books we've read in common and compare our impressions.Anyway, this one was excellent. It was a story about a single Mom with two daughters who are in elementary and middle school, and how they work through their lives. From the point of view of the

Very Judy Blume-ish. 4th grade girls dealing with puberty, boys, divorce, mean girls, friends and sibling-trouble. It covers a lot of issues - her dad is in jail for embezzling money from the townspeople, so her family is often judged and treated unfairly. Now, a priest is staying with them (her mom used to date him in college) because he's having issues about being a priest, and Effie doesn't like him disrupting her life. I think this book tries to cover a few too many issues at a time - not

It's really good thanks and I love ur booksCan't wait for the next one

I almost like this book better than My Big Sister Is So Bossy She Says You Cant Read This Book!

Well I didn't know this one was a sequel until just now, when I went out and read the reviews. So it stands fine on its own. Effie, a fourth grader at Catholic School, tries to keep her best friends together and find out what Father Frank, an old friend of Effie's mother, is burying in the back yard. I liked it well enough and better than the SLJ reviewer, who said read Moss' Amelia books instead.

I really liked one book that this author wrote -- the one where the kid nearly fell to his death and landed in California -- but it was more for teens and this book was boring and kid-dish, and didn't really call to me.
