Commentary In Pursuance Of Books The Glass Mountain

This was a weird book for me because I can't say that anything attracted me in it and yet I felt pulled into Chloe Delaney's life and Sharon Sparling's words. I guess that the way it was written - past flashes into Chloe's life from a young teenager and building up to her present mental institution resident state after a nervous breakdown - made me see the characters come to life in a movie. And now that I think about it, the setting makes me think a little bit about Blue Jasmine but with more of a Spike Jones (Her) feel.
What I could resonate with though is Chloe's attempts to find her place in life and never knowing how or where she fit until the end of the story. With her it was the people in her life, never finding someone to fully understand and who understood her, finding her solace only in music.

My Grandma gave me this one, told me it reminded her of "us" (her and I) I enjoyed this book even though it was a little bit slow. I finished it rather quickly. I wanted to know what it was that pulled my Gran in. The main character, Chloe Delaney, has a sad tale to tell, but in the end she realizes where her happiness is. It was never where she thought it was. Life tends to unravel this way, hiding happiness in the most unexpected places at the most inopportune times.
